THE CHALLENGE

18th and 21st birthday parties constitute an unusual challenge for any caterer, largely because so many of the guests are not really there for the food so-to-speak. When you have 100 of them in a marquee the challenge, frankly, becomes a bit daunting! Careful menu selection is the key to creating a successful party; that and having a couple of first class barmen...

The food needed to be unfussy and tasty so a ‘Big Bite’ style was adopted allowing revellers to eat on the move and focus on the drinking and dancing.

ON THE DAY

The fun got underway with the staff handing out reception drinks consisting of a spirit and mixer in a plastic drawstring bag with a plastic fish ‘swimming’ around! Shortly afterwards the food service got underway, the idea being that the food should help line the stomach in preparation for the long night ahead. Much hilarity ensued and the team were able to deliver all the food and beverage that the birthday boy could have hoped for.
